INTRODUCTION

Several Carlsbad community service groups take an active interest in furthering education in the arts at the elementary school level. Some of their collaborative efforts can be seen in the Gallery 2000 to follow. Note, however, that the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. has directed its interest to the combination of historic Carrillo Ranch, art and innovative teaching of California history.

ART & CALIFORNIA HISTORY

Now concluding its fourth consecutive year, this Friends program for fourth graders is designed to meld graphic arts education and execution with the study of California history, making each more interesting and productive. Included are audio/visual orientation presentations with a special focus on Carrillo Ranch, in-classroom professional art instruction and field trips to Old Town Historic State Park on the Coaster, San Diego's County's popular north coastal commuter rail service. Program funding has been provided by the members of the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc., the San Diego Foundation, the Target store in Oceanside, Amelia R. Irvine, Homelife Village Realtors, Gemological Institute of America, and the Wells Fargo Foundation (La Costa branch).

ST.PATRICK'S SCHOOL

This is a stand-alone project that has been separately funded by members of the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. and Amelia R. Irvine.
