INTRODUCTION |
|
Several
Carlsbad community service groups take an active interest
in furthering education in the arts at the elementary
school level. Some of their collaborative efforts can
be seen in the Gallery 99 to follow. Note, however, that
the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. has directed its interest
to the combination of historic Carrillo Ranch, art and
innovative teaching of California history. |

ART
& CALIFORNIA HISTORY
Now concluding its third consecutive year,
this Friends program for fourth graders is designed to
meld mixed-media graphic arts education and execution
with the study of California history, making each more
interesting and productive. Included are audio/visual
orientation presentations with a special focus on Carrillo
Ranch, hands-on artifacts displays, in-classroom professional
art instruction and field trips to Old Town Historic State
Park on the Coaster, San Diego's County's popular north
coastal commuter rail service. Conducted in cooperation
with the Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD), program
funding has been provided by the members of the Friends
of Carrillo Ranch, Inc., the Reuben H. Fleet Fund (a component
of the San Diego Foundation), the Target store in Oceanside,
Amelia R. Irvine, Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary, Farmers Insurance
Group and Longs Drug in Encinitas. |
|
ST.PATRICK'S
SCHOOL
This is a stand-alone project that includes
all of the CUSD program features but has been separately
funded by members of the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc.
and Amelia R. Irvine. |
