INTRODUCTION |
| During
the 1997/98 academic year several Carlsbad community groups
participated in a variety of programs designed to increase
awareness of the importance of Arts Education and to stimulate
spontaneous student artistic interpretations with a special
focus on Carrillo Ranch. The winning artworks are displayed
by category: |

ART
& CALIFORNIA HISTORY
An
extensive program for fourth graders sponsored by the
Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. the Reuben H. Fleet Fund,
Amelia R. Irvine and the Target store in Oceanside in
association with the Carlsbad Unified School District.
Included were audio/visual orientation presentations,
in-classroom professional art instruction and field trips
to Old Town State Park. Art instructor: Jennifer Luce.

ST.PATRICK'S
SCHOOL
A
stand-alone project for fourth graders assisted by the
Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. which provided audio/visual
support and a field trip to Old Town State Park. Judging
was by the Carlsbad Historical Society. |

NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION WEEK
An
art competition among third grade students, sponsored
by the Carlsbad Arts and Historic Preservation Commissions.
Although a wide range of local historic sites were depicted,
the winners included in this gallery were those who chose
Carrillo Ranch as their subject matter. |
